Montioni Paolo Montefalco Rosso Doc 2020

Artikelnummer: 7042721
Beschikbaarheid: Op voorraad

Baked plum, coconut, toast, vanilla, nail polish and resin aromas mingle together on this brawny red. The solid palate shows French oak, roasted coffee bean and stewed prune alongside grainy tannins. You'll also notice the heat of evident alcohol. Give the tannins another year or two to soften, then enjoy in time to capture the remaining fruit. —Kerin O’Keefe

Red berries and vanilla on the nose, following through to the medium to full palate with lightly velvety tannins and sweet fruit. Medium finish. No real complexity, but well made. Drink now.

Dark ruby color. Beet and iron to the nose, shows beautiful notes of cherry and raspberry. A nice sweetness and tight tannins on the palate, it stretches well, with a robust course.

Full-bodied red with sour cherries, fresh figs, cigar box and sweet walnuts on the nose. Firm and dusty tannins yet sweet and juicy in fruit. Drink from 2024.

The 2020 Montefalco Rosso seduces with its rich bouquet of crushed plums, sweet herbs and spiced blood orange. This impresses further with fleshy textures and masses of ripe red fruits perfectly balanced by vibrant acidity. It finishes long and patent yet lively, leaving the mouth watering and a slowly fading slight bitter tinge of balsamic spice. While cellar-worthy over the medium term, the Montefalco Rosso already shows quite well.          By Eric Guido on July 2023

Once again, the Montioni wines were a huge standout in my Montefalco tastings. From the Rosso to the Sagrantino, this portfolio exudes elegance, boasting fleshy fruits and zesty acidity, perfectly balancing those traditional gruff tannins. What's more, the radiance of the 2019 vintage is on full display in the current releases. The farm started its operations in 1978 with a focus on olive oil. In the early 2000's Paolo Montioni, representing the third generation of winemakers in the family, began modernizing their practices and building a new underground cellar. Today, the winery follows natural protocols in the vineards and winery, including spontaneous fermentations. While barrel aging for the bigger wines takes place a new French barrique, the integration is flawless. The seductive reds of Montioni are not to be missed.
